Was recently going back through some of the photos in my archive and these remain some of the best photos, (and the best sunset!) that I took.
I wonder if we could have ever known that this would have been one of the last times we’d all be together?
Many of us are interstate, with others now being overseas, and so it’s very unlikely that we’ll ever all have a catch up like this.
I guess that’s one of the reasons I find photography so compelling
Elise and I went to East Timor for her 30th, where we took a trip from Dili, to Aturo, then off to Balibo, and back to Dili, via Maubisse.
It was a great trip and we found some really great places and met some fascinating people.

This is locally referred to as “The Kissing House” for some pretty gruesome reasons.
It was where a lot of the locals rounded up by the Indonesians were shot.

The Cherry Blossom festival in Auburn Gardens is a great time of year.
What I’m particularly fascinated by, as this technology continues forward, is just how important, and common it will be for 270 degree video or such, where you’ll be able to see the field of view ahead of you, up and down, left and right, but that there’ll be a trend to really ignore looking behind you.
For my money, I think it’ll follow the aesthetic choices of aspect ratios in cinema now, where there are certain cinematic conventions that have an overall feel and convey tones.
That, and the fact that it quickly becomes tiring in a standard seat to have to look behind yourself all the time.
Not to mention the fact that there’s so much work involved in removing the operator from a scene.
270 degrees would change all that.
