I recently stumbled onto a few of these video essays by Tony Zhou and they're brilliant dissections of the craft of directing.

In the aftermath of WWII, Frankfurt was a levelled city.
With the intention of gaining support from the rest of Germany and the world for their rebuild, they built a model of the town, which is on display in the Frankfurt Museum, to depict the scale of the destruction.
They exaggerated a lot of the details to drum up increased support.
